Members not receiving emails from BowlsLink (Campaign Monitor)

Clubs using BowlsLink for their communications and emails uses the third-party platform, Campaign Monitor. If members are not receiving emails from their club, via BowlsLink (Campaign Monitor), there are some email services that send these on to Spam or Junk inboxes.

Google’s Gmail and Hotmail services are known for filtering emails into Spam or Junk folders due to their advanced screening and checks so, for these users, we recommend following the below steps to help avoid and minimize emails filters to Spam.

  • Step-by-step guide: Adding Spam filter to Gmail
  • Gmail
  • Hotmail
  • Removing Safe Senders
  • Suppression Lists
  • Automatically added addresses
  • Managing the Suppression List
  • Remove email addresses

Step-by-step guide: Adding Spam filter to Gmail #

Step-by-step guide: Adding Spam filter to Gmail #

Gmail #

To make sure that messages you receive from BowlsLink pass through the spam filter for Gmail, create an email filter using the “Never send it to Spam” option:

Open Google Mail and click Settings > Filters > Create a new filter

Enter the email address noreply@bowlslink.com.au in the From field

Click Create filter with this search

Select Never send it to spam Click Create Filter

Hotmail #

To make sure that messages you receive from BowlsLink pass through the spam filter for Hotmail, use the Block or Allow settings to help control unwanted and unsolicited email messages by creating and managing lists of email addresses and domains that you trust and those that you don’t.

To Allow emails, add the noreply@bowlslink.com.au email address to the Safe Senders list:

  1. Sign in to Outlook
  2. At the top of the page, select Settings Settings: update your profile, install software and connect it to the cloud > Mail.
  3. Under Options, select Block or allow.
  4. To add an entry to Safe senders and recipients, enter the email address or domain that you want to mark as safe in the Enter a sender or domain here text box, and then press Enter or select the Add icon The Create new folder button next to the text box.
    • To mark a specific email as safe, enter the full email address. For example, to mark all messages from BowlsLink (Campaign Monitor) as safe, enter noreply@bowlslink.com.au in the text box.
  5. (Optional) Select the Trust email from my contacts check box to treat email from any address in your contacts folders as safe.
  6. Select Save to save your changes.

Removing Safe Senders #

  1. To remove an entry from Safe senders and recipients, select the entry and select Remove.
  2. Select Save to save your changes.

Suppression Lists #

The suppression list is a specific type of subscriber list. It contains email addresses you don’t want to send to, to help protect your sending reputation.

Your email may be added to a Suppression list if your email address has bounced multiple times (due to incorrect spelling, marking the sender as Spam or unsubscribing from the email)

Below, we’ll explain how email addresses are automatically added to the suppression list, and how you can suppress email addresses yourself.

Automatically added addresses #

A subscriber’s email address is automatically added to the suppression list if:

  • The address hard bounces – hard bounces are those emails that are permanently undeliverable to this email address. The address is either fake, was entered incorrectly, or the user mailbox or domain is no longer active.
  • The subscriber marks one of your emails as spam (unless they are on Gmail).
  • The subscriber unsubscribes, or you set their status to unsubscribed.
  • It was part of a bulk remove operation, with the “Unsubscribe from all lists” option selected.

When viewing the suppression list, the reasons for the above items will be shown as either “Unsubscribed”, “Marked as Spam” or “Bounced”.

Managing the Suppression List #

To access the suppression list, you must have at least one subscriber list. Then, to manage it:

  1. Click Lists & subscribers.
  2. Click Suppressions on the left menu.

You will then see the suppression list, and the reason each email was added to the list. If they were added automatically, the reason will be “Unsubscribed”, “Marked as Spam” or “Bounced”. If you see “Suppressed”, it means the email address was added manually.

Remove email addresses #

To remove email addresses from the suppression list, select the checkbox to the right of the email addresses you want to remove, then click Remove from suppression list.
